January 6** Paula Nadelstern - "Fabricadabra: Simple Quilts, Complex Fabrics" - Quilts of simple shapes can be transformed into dramatic visual spectacles using intricate, charismatic fabrics. Paula explains her design strategies, including the roles of symmetry, templates, repetitions and camouflaged seams. Paula showcases quilts with illustrations revealing the simple layouts and a discussion about designing fabric.
February 3* Ashley Bandy and Sandi Curd. Tips From Long Arm Quilters - This presentation focuses on tips and pointers from our own TQP long arm quilters to members who are planning to bring their quilt top to a long arm quilter for quilting. Ashley and Sandi will tell you what you need to know for best success, from recommended fabric and fabric combinations, to how to avoid wavy borders, to batting choices, to when to select a tighter or wider quilting pattern, and much more.
March 3* Members Share Tips & Techniques - Four demos and lessons from TQP members. Gayle J. will cover Short Cuts (flying geese and half square triangles). Kathy G. will cover Quilting Hacks From the Dollar Store. Sarah K. will cover Mitered Bindings. Ruth R. will cover Paperless Paper Piecing.
April 7*** Brita Nelson. Every Last Crumb, An Adventure in Scrap Quilting - This is a fun, informative and inspirational trek to find the best way to handle a mountain of leftover fabric. Brita had over 30 years of accumulated scraps, which threatened to take over her sewing room and consume her. She had to do something. With over two dozen quilts and projects, Brita will demonstrate some great ways to use that secret treasure hiding in your home. She will also cover basic color and contrast principles to make your scrap beauties really shine.

April 1 Fork Mtn Quilting/ Buyers' Spree - Melissa and Todd Cassell of Fork Mtn Quilting in Rocky Mount will be bringing the latest fabric catalogues and putting TQP members in the role of buyers for the store. *
May 6 Sew Biz / Sewing Machine Maintenance - Donna Worrell from Sew Biz in Radford will be discussing sewing machine maintenance, as well as any new and interesting developments in the shop. *
June 3 Annual Picnic. This will be in lieu of our regular monthly meeting. The annual picnic will feature a Silent Auction and Flower Pounding Activity.
July 1 Round Robin - TQP members will do rotating 15 minute demonstrations of different quilting techniques. Presenters and specific quilting techniques are as follows:

August 5 There will be no meeting due to renovations at the Blacksburg Community Center.
August 9 Paula G. has organized a trip to the Virginia Quilt Museum for a private tour of their new facility at Silver Lake Mill in Dayton, Virginia. In addition to the tour, the group will also stop at a Mennonite General Store, have a bag lunch outside the VQM, and visit Patchwork Plus and the Quiltery fabric shops.
September 2 Annual Treasure Sale
October 7 Quilt Block Transformation Techniques - Ruth R. and Oma M. will each present a half program on transforming quilt blocks.
November 11*** Joselin L. will do a program on visible mending and other mending trends. This meeting will take the place of our usual second Tuesday of the month meeting in order to accommodate Election Day.
